Writing Again

Side Note: So here I am after 3 years once again on Xanga. Why? The thought of keeping a blog or regular journal has entertained me for a long time. I’ve always believed that writing out your thoughts helps articulate what’s on your mind, boosts creativity, and of course, gives you something interesting to look back on when you’re older. It’s a weird concept though when you think about it… Blogging is essentially people writing down their very personal and intimate thoughts, thoughts that sometimes don’t want to be shared even with close friends, all to be published on the internet where the world can learn them. I never understood that even though I’m jumping back into the strange world of online writing for whoever wishes to view my daily ramblings. If someone has an explanation for this paradox of communication, let me know.

Last year after some friends gave me the suggestion, I thought about keeping a consistent blog while I was in China on my mission to keep people updated but truth was life was extremely busy and very unpredictable so it was hard to get a regular news feed going. Regardless even after coming home I wanted to share my one year experience and what I learned as a short-term missionary since a 60 minute testimony wouldn't be enough to share everything, not even begin to cover the highlights. Finally after this one sleepless night, I had all these ideas bouncing around in my head. You know that feeling of really wanting to go to sleep but then an idea pops up which multiplies into many completely different strains of thoughts that keep you so excited that you can’t fall asleep? It reminds me of a kid on Christmas Eve. Well, one of those ideas was to seriously return to the old fad of blogging that was once the popular online thing to do in the early 2000s.

So here we go! Thoughts, opinions, and random messages coming soon.

Leaving for the Air Force Academy

As most of you know, I'm leaving for the U.S. Air Force Academy on June 27th. It still hasn't hit me how much things are going to change; how in less than 24 hours I'll be in Colorado probably wearing a military uniform going through basic training. Crazy how life's moments just pass by so quickly. Weird how some things work out the way they do.

During the next 6 weeks I'll be away from the internet, my phone, and any other communication device. Feel free though to leave a message through my e-mail, facebook, or voice mail for me to get at the end of the 6 weeks of training =)

Or... You can write me letters =) I'm not sure if I'll be able to write back, but I'd love it if you guys wrote to me... Even if we barely know each other, consider taking some time out of your summer day to write hello =D

My address there is:

Basic Cadet Jonathan Kim
P.O. Box 3162
USAF Academy CO 80841

Seriously, I love letters haha so please write if you have time!
Good luck to my class of ’07! Or should I say 2011? Take care everyone! Keep in touch and stay close to God!

To my family at Canaan...
Take care everyone! Especially to my grade! Enjoy the rest of your summer and remember what you've learned at CYC. Stay close to the Lord in college. No matter where you are, He is always there and still the same. Remember to always keep Canaan in your prayers. Don't just become another statistic in the group of people that fall away.

To the new seniors... You guys are the new leaders of the group! Be the best role models/examples for all the younger people! Get involved and serve our church. Take care of it and have a heart for it. Have a great senior year. It's the best year of high school, even with all the college apps and what not. Make the most out of it, and learn as much as you can from Canaan so that when you leave, you'll be somewhat ready to face the world =)

To everyone else...
Thank you to all the leaders who have been planting seeds from the beginning. Thank you for always praying and always serving even when it was exhausting.
Thank you to all the underclass/jr highers for being blessings to the upper class. Seriously, when I see you guys it breaks my heart cause I see that you guys really have that yearning to know God and serve our Church. Even though you guys are some of the youngest in the group that never stopped you from being an example for others to see. As Paul said in 1 Timothy 4:12, "12Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." Whether you guys knew it or not, you guys are examples for everyone.

See you all back around Thanksgiving time =)

Freshman Orientation

Just last week I had freshman orientation at the Air Force Academy
Pretty early for orientation but it was pretty cool there. The weather was pretty nice too. Here are some pics of my visit:

The beautiful chapel there

Not really sure what they were marching for, but hey why not right? It was a nice day to march outside for any reason haha

That was the first day. Weather looks very nice right?
This was the 2nd day:

Yup that's hail in the picture. Hail in April? You better believe it

Yeah, pretty crazy weather in Colorado...

Anyhow, here's a video I found that I thought many mathletes could relate too. Check it out, the song has a catchy beat
